not shocked, it a very tight nylon lock nut, I have to use a wrench everytime I get near it, my guest he tried to put it on by hand
and it did not lock the theads, OTOH adding a cottor pin is not a bad idea but it is going to need to be replaces offen, that screew
head is draging thougt the mud. It going to get beat up fast.

The nut securing the bolt that holds the 2 parts together fell off on some guy's boat in New Zealand, and the bolt slipped out of
the anchor.  The boat grounded, and apparently broke up.  There is now a cotter pin hole to keep the nut in place.  Make sure your
anchor has one, and use it.

I just went to the sailmagazine.com site and didn't see the article. Can you
tell me more about it? I've been considering a Spade anchor for our Tayana
as they seem to be held in high regard by cruisers.
