Hi Everybody,

I'll be trying out a new toy for the 1st time on our Pigeon River kayak trip this weekend.  It's a Garmin Rino 130 handheld combo GPS, FRS radio, & VHF weather receiver.  For backpacking trips, this one unit replaces 3 separate pieces of gear; my Magellan GPS 2000, Motorolla FRS radio, & Handheld VHF marine band radio + several other functions that I don't particularly care about.  Combining functions into one unit saves about 25 cubic inches of volume + about 2 lbs less weight in the pack.  In addition, the Rino 130 is rated submersible up to 1 meter.  Daniel & Gary will each have their Motorolla FRS radios.

I should be back late Monday.  I'll let you know how the new Garmin unit worked.
