In the other list, there was discussion about his keel. From the pics, and especially from the little flash movie, it looks like he sheared off the keel in the process.

I checked the Outer Banks weather for the date of pictures. There was a 72
hour storm that pounded the coast with 7 - 10 foot waves washing out several
coastal roads. The guy really should not have been near the Outer Banks
under conditions like this. It looks like the guy made many mistakes.
Hopefully the damage is not to bad.
I also checked the local Nags Head newspaper and could not get any more
info.
