Wally,

OK, so an honorable discharge trumps all. Check.  But I still don't know the
answers to these questions:  Can you get court marshaled for going AWOL?
Does the constitution allow a court marshaled soldier to be president?

As an aside, I was 18 in 1975 when the draft was ending.  I wanted to join
the Navy to ride on boats and play trumpet in the venerable Navy Band.  I
love John Phillips Souza!  If not The Navy Band, there were many 4 and 5
piece dance bands that toured the officers clubs, etc. I've met some of
these guys--what cool duty is that?  Hey...that'd be a great name for a
band--Cool Duty.   8-)
