Rummy-
I'm confident that political pressure would not have resulted in a
change of government, as it had not done in the last 10 years. Since it
had not worked in the past, why do you think it would have worked in the
future.
But I agree that since Saddam tried to kill W's father, it influenced
W's
perception of Saddam as a threat. I think it was another coin on the
scale of whether to invade Iraq, along with all the other factors we
have talked about. But unlike you, I believe it was a minor coin, not a
major one.

Marc,
So, in order to rid a country of a very small flea, we use a 1,000 pound
bomb? Political pressure both from inside Iraq and from other countries
might
have resulted in a change of government in Iraq. I would have preferred
this
method to what we did.
We all think the reason for the rush to war had something to do with
WMD's
and global threat. Could it possibly have been that Saddam tried to kill
W's
father? Me thinks the other excuses were just that....excuses.
Rummy
