Barry:
My upper attachment was formerly an eye strap with two screws
holding it to the furrowing tube. Last fall the sail loop that was attached
to the metal eye strap wore thru. It had to go to the local sail fixer to
get a new upper loop on the sail. When reinstalling the sail, Rummy and I
put a screw thru the strap and affixed with a single screw. It cannot now
rub and wear out in the same way. Nothing about the GBI furrowing systems
in use over years are super secret technology and they are not even the same
each year. Stan has a way of trying new and different systems to see what
works best. The new ways of doing things can be applied to older equipment
without catastrophe.

Subject: Re: [Rhodes22-list] Shroud tension,(was all pacific boat show)
Barry,
Usually there is a grommet attached to a length of cloth at the top of the
sail. Mine had a couple of washers to prevent it from pulling loose. The
bottom
line (also the furling line)is used to tension the sail downwards. It's
been
a while since I've had the sail apart, but I recently helped Ed Kroposki
with his sails, so I'm going from memory. There should be a small screw
hole
somewhere near the top of the furling tube. Be careful not to bend the
furling
tube at all, or furling the sail with a wobbly tube can be hard. It has to
be
straight.
Rummy
