[Rhodes22-list] Sail Trolling

Jim,

My parents fished for everything, and my brother and I would go out with 
them.  That was always in power boats.  At some point in early adulthood 
I realized that I hated fishing, and haven't gone since--including 100% 
of the time I've been sailing.  My brother maintained the family fishing 
tradition, and introduced my boys to it, and they now both want to fish 
from my boat.  (The Blues are running.)

So, as much as anything, I'm looking for sail-fishing advice.

But, heaving to is something I know about.  If you've got the wind and 
no obstacles, you can do it for hours at any speed you select.  You 
can't plane hove to, but you can do 5 kt.s if you want to, without 
having to worry about gibing, or much of anything else.  It seems to me 
that 2 people could fish in total comfort for hours on end in captain's 
chairs turned around to face the water.  The boat will stay flat.  The 
ride will be blissful.  You should just turn around from time to time to 
make sure you are not too close to a lee shore, or a working boat with 
the right of way.

Any tips on fishing from sail boats will be welcome, and tips specific 
to R-22s will be most welcome.
