Stan-
You have our attention.
Ron, now out of habit, I pull back on the lee/lazy sheet when setting
the sails to take just enough slack out before it grabs the bow cleat.
The possibility of a flagging shackle hurting people or gelcoat is a
consideration, but the clew is high enough off the deck and toerails to
minimize this. I've gotten a bit lax on tacking and now with training
others and sailing with my son, a sail racer that responds to headers
and lifts, I tightened up on tacking. I have a 150 gennie and always
trying to let the wind carry it, it still catches shrouds. A short lead
through the clew with Sister Clips (West Marine Part #121079, p. 1025
in catalog) spliced in, to sheets with the same seems the simplest and
cleanest solution I've found.
The jury is still out...Stan???
