Bill:
Did you see the reply from Steve? Wow!
From the length of the list you posted to Stan, why not just order a
new boat with all the bells and whistles your heart desires. You told Stan
that you would be happy to do the work under his supervision. From the
length of that wish list, you will be there until July. How old is your
son? Maybe you could indenture him to Stan? Or apprentice him to Stan?
I hope Stan has been keeping track of all the visitors coming to
Edenton. If he puts them all to work, maybe, just maybe, a few boats will
splash in the spring. But if they all just use up Stan's time, maybe no
boats will splash in the spring.
Bill, as long as you volunteered to work in Edenton, a word of
caution. Take your own hand tools. Sounds like you will need several
toolboxes. Edenton is far from a Northern Tool, Harbor Freight, Sears,
Lowe's, or any other good tool store.
Also, if you drink Coffee, and stay at the plant (which do), take
your favorite coffee. Stan supplies the coffee maker, but he does not drink
the stuff (real stuff made from real beans). If you go out to dinner, while
Stan loves the buffet places, take him to Lane's for some down home local
food. Local seafood is very hard to come by in Edenton, but you might ask
Mark for directions to that place in a little town north of Edenton.
Since you speak Spanish, you will get along well with most of the
help. By chance do you speak Romanian?
You mentioned needing a new IMF mast. They do come from somewhere
in the northeast. Stan usually gets them in batches, are you prepared to
bring him half a dozen? That would save Elton a special trip.
Oh, BTW, in going down and evaluating alternate routes consider
personal and vehicle safety. The west route that uses I-78 to I-81 to I-66
to U.S. 17 to I-95 may be longer, but in my opinion it would be safer. It
avoids going thru three major cities. The rest areas, welcome stations and
truck stops are easy access. The route has less total traffic. The roads
are in good shape. While it is longer, if you were to get stuck in traffic,
the driving time would be the same or less as the shorter route. Because
total traffic is less, it is a more relaxed drive. So when you do arrive in
Edenton, you will be ready to get to work.
If you have your sons with you at Edenton, instead of the keys, take
them to Cape Hatteras. If you stay out there go to Ocracoke, and stay at
the : http://www.ponyislandmotel.com/
I have been staying with these guys since all they were but one row
of rooms by the office. The restaurant has good breakfast. Go out thru
Mateo and come back by the Swan Quarter ferry. The boys would like that
trip better than working for Stan.
See, you are not the only one who can write a book for an email. If
you do go to the Keys, check this site out:
