I don't think you need to sail the specific boat you are going to
buy to get a feeling for the sailing charactoristics,
but you do want to sail a boat with a similar set of sails
IMF, 175 genoa vs standard main and smaller headsail. Of course
test sailing the boat you are buying is always preferred.

     If you post everything to the list, a local to you might reply.  How
are you going to sail a new boat? When everything is custom made for you?

     If you sail a similar one, another will sail the same.  I have been on
at least four R22's and when you sail on one, it feels the same.  Some are
just faster than others, depending who is at the helm.

     If you want to try one, there are several Rodies that sail the
Chesapeake.  You need to make such a request to them on the list. Edenton,
NC is not that far.  Stan can not resist the temptation to take someone out
on the sound near the plant.  Just make sure you bring along a cash deposit.
