My racing partner John plays guitar. Tow years ago we went to Nashville Pawn
shops and bought an Ovation "Applause". He figures he
can use it for a hammer or a paddle and it will still be fine playing!

Bob,
Ooh - you bring up a good point. I wonder if fish scream? <g>
As to how well it'll hold up, I have no idea - it's supposed to be pretty
tough, but I just got it a couple of weeks ago and haven't even had it on
the boat yet. I'll let you know if I start seeing any problems with it -
we're planning to spend a lot of time on the boat starting in March or
April. I plan to keep it in the soft case it came with, but without any
desiccant.
Mark

Mark -
As a sometimes and poor guitar player, I have been seriously thinking of
using my summer evenings on the hook for a bit of practice, sparing my dear
wife the pain of listening.
I can't hear the fish laugh or groan...
Like many, I enjoy the intimate the sound of a mandolin, and the Backpacker
seems like a good compromise between sound and size.
How does it actually hold up in the humidity?
(Don't the seams open up?)
Do you keep it in a case with desiccant?
Would that be a good idea?
Thanks for any advice you have,
--
