Congratulations, Peter,

Maybe now you can tell us how to sail these things.

I have mixed feelings about your entering a PHRF fleet. I'm sure you
will do very well initially because so few of us compete on an R-22 that
we get a great handicap number. But if you start to compete and win you
will inevitably change that number making it much more difficult for the
rest of us to win a race with a boat that is much faster than its crew.

On the other hand, this is completely theoretical, since I never plan to
race, and it would be great to learn from a pro the tricks to going faster.

How is your boat rigged?

In my mind I call your boat the PT Cruiser.

Many thanks to Stan for building such a fine craft, to Gary Sanford and Mark and Julie Kaynor for taking such good care of this '88 unrecycled boat. Tana and I will be R22 sailing this year instead of next year or beyond, which would be the earliest probable time that I could find the time to complete renovations to Phoenix, while also running a small business and spending 12-15 weekends a year racing Tanzers 16s.

Perhaps Raven and I will join the local PHRF fleet next winter, or Tana and I will venture up into the Chesapeake again- who knows. It's just a great feeling to have an "Admiralty Craft" ready ro go in great shape.
