Roger,
Having done this trip myself many times over the last 10 years, I can say
the intent is to stay IN the boat.  That being said, I always paddle front
right and seem to be the sacrificial offering to the river gods as I almost
inevitably get tossed out.  The Lower New is a hoot, big water and lots of
room on the river.  Tell Daniel to watch out for the "Greyhound Bus Stopper"
and the "Double Z" rapids.

I thought you folks might enjoy this piece of electronic art that Daniel
created in the last couple of weeks on his semester break.  His Boy Scout
Venture Unit is going white water rafting this summer on the New River in
West Virginia.  This patch is the original artwork for the high adventure
event patch that all participants will receive.  Daniel's Venture Unit
leader asked him to make the artwork for this patch.  Note that Daniel has
even managed to incorporate the name the name of the actual whitewater guide
service that they will be using, Songer.  I can't wait to see the
embroidered patches in a couple of months.  Pretty cool, huh?
