Rummy, MJM,
Well, that counts me out because I'm a below-average mechanic. 8-)
Possibly related issue: You may remember last fall I posted a question
about my prop. At full throttle with no wind or chop I can just barely
reach hull speed, and with a little head wind it's significantly slower, and
I was wondering if I had the wrong prop. Now I'm wondering if that problem
is in the lower unit. Possible? The motor starts and runs well. I don't
have a tachometer of course, but my ear tells me it winds up to pretty high
RPM, but it just doesn't seem to have enough performance.
