hi
i started experimenting last season with keeping the boom centered and 
sailing the main like a second jib....what i was trying to test was limiting the 
boom movement in a jibe so i also would let the boom out a little and just 
release the outhaul in a downwind situation..i was pleased with the results but the 
tests were extremely limited..im unsure of the affect on the luff of the 
sail...will continue playing this season
