Ed,

I went to Tokyo and took those pictures.  I'm glad you took the time to 
look at them.  Pretty amazing, huh?

I had not owned the camera for long when I took the pictures.  I bought 
extra batteries for the camera because I leave the image stabilization 
on all the time.  This allows the camera to focus quickly, and there is 
little lag between pressing the button and taking the picture.  The 
pictures were all hand held--I didn't pack my tripod.  The compositions 
were constantly changing--at that distance a very small move puts the 
subject outside the frame.

I have kept the camera off my boat for the most part to protect it, but 
will bring it on board more this year as it has already paid for 
itself.  The type of image stabilization it uses does not correct for 
the rocking of the boat, just the jittering of hand held long shots. 

Not only is the lens sharp, it is also very fast.  It is an excellent 
camera.  The lens alone is worth the price.
