You don't measure "commitment" to a cause by the casualties, but by the number dedicated to the cause. But, even using your (faulty) logic, no, 50,000 killed over a 10 year period was not much of a commitment. Look back at the previous victory. How many did we commit to WWII in that war, and in how long a time? Feel free to use your (faulty) logic of counting the dead.
