Michael - Thanks for your concerns - perhaps my description sounded  flighty, 
but, yes, we have already spent a day with Stan and Co last weekend  prepping 
for the trip and getting gear ready for stowage.  We have harness  and 
tethers, lifesling, inflatable pfd's, foulies, redundant handheld, redundant  gps, 
fire extinguishers, first aid kit, flares and signal mirror, and a healthy  
respect for the elements.  we have blue-water experience, having done the  West 
Marine Bermuda trip and several shorter offshore passages on other  boats.  
We're keeping a watchfull eye on the weather and it looks  like  a pretty decent 
window coming Thurs to Tues or so.  Even so,  things can happen - but I 
believe we are pretty well prepared for the  uncertainties.  Your comment about time 
limits is well taken - we have no  set destination for the first leg - we'll 
"park" Sunday Morning as needed to  avoid the bad stuff.  We'll let you know
