Bob,
Food for thought - when you put in at Savannah, you will likely use the bridge near Sail Harbor. The ramp is apparently very slippery and the local boat owners rather impatient. The cross current can be strong, so suggest you go in right at high tide if you can. Dick told me at least one tow vehicle has slipped into the water with the boat, trying to launch from a slippery ramp too close to low tide. There is a dock for tie-up next to the ramp - nice. We hope to sail from Savannah a number of times next year. Let me know if you itch to sail Lanier, where I have my R22. I bought Rodger Rookey's boat this summer. Cheers.

Hi Ed,
Yes, the main reason I am moving is because I can't beat Rum Runner in a
race. Very perceptive of you. Been working out of my house in Marietta
since last May and living on airplanes and will be moving to Savannah in
May/June next year-as soon as school is out. We're building a house in
Richmond Hill but will keep the boat on the ICW, which should be a 45 minute
drive from our house. (Of course, we will keep the power boat in the new
neighborhood which has river access about 10 miles from the ocean).

As for marinas, I am looking at Sail Harbor Marina on Wilmington Island.
This would be about five minutes from sailing on the Wilmington River - very
nice sailing and not far (2 miles) from Wausaw Sound and the Atlantic.
There are other marinas, but they seem to be further from sailing waters -
the Isle of Hope Marina is beautiful, but would have to motor for an hour
just to get to the ICW! I sailed the area two years ago on the Yankee
Clipper (see my story in the archives) and really am looking forward to
having the boat over there.

Anyway, thanks for asking...
Bob K
