I guess I lucked into my slip ... we decided we wanted to get a sailboat awhile ago, but I didn't want to have to trailer one, so I put myself on the waitlist at Washington Sailing Marina for a wet slip and decided I would get a boat when I got a slip.  Well, I was fortunate in that I put myself on their list at a time when they were refurbishing the docks ... which meant they weren't assigning any new people slips as they opened up.  Apparently, it was at least a year's worth of time that they weren't assigning anyone slips.  Recently, they started assigning slips again, and even though I was something like number 90 on the list, they apparently quickly went through the list as most people ahead of me had found dockspace at other marinas in the intervening time.  
 
So, now that I have the slip, I'm getting the boat.  I had been looking on various used boat websites, but I wasn't seeing anything I was all that interested in.  Then I saw the Rhodes at the Annapolis Boat Show and I realized it was exactly what I needed ... and so here I am, bothering all of you fine people with my naivete!

I saw your message to Rummy,  fyi I'm a newbe/lurker on the  board.  We've 
just started the refurbishment selection process with Stan,  don't know when 
we'll have a boat in the water, but we hope this coming  season.  We live in 
Vienna, Va - not too far away from you.  Vienna is  adjacent to Tysons Corner, 
you 
likely know where that is.   I get down  to the marina from time to time and 
look forward to seeing your boat in the  water there.
 
We'll probably use a marina over on the bay,  we're looking at Deal,  Md.  I 
understand slips are VERY hard to get at the Washington Sailing  Marina.  I 
was told they have a waiting list of several years.  Was  that your experience?
