Wally,
You are right about the squid being meaner than scata/scheisse.  I talked to
a couple of the fisherman and it was the younger one who had some sucker
wounds and several really awful chunks out of his neck, back and arms.  It
was the older one who pointed out the reason his junior partner had the
scars......not a heroric battle....rather he had too much to drink and fell
in!  Either way they are nasty and I guess it was a good idea I didn't push
my brother in to see what would happen.
