Nope... but more to the point, is our country better off? I think a high
deficit is negative no matter how you look at it, and no matter who is in
office...
I also feel extremely sad at seeing all the damaged bodies returning from
Iraq and the damaged families here who have lost loved ones for no purpose
that justifies the loss from a national interest perspective.... of course,
as a bleeding heart liberal, I don't like to see tyranny in any part of the
world, but I don't believe that the U.S. can become the social service
agency for the world. To think this is possible or even reasonable is
absurd... of course that is assuming that we REALLY went to war in Iraq in
order to save the pour souls there who were the subjects of it... Since I am
not so naive as to believe THAT, I'm left with outrageous frustration over
the whole deal. And I REALLY don't like to see our country lied to over
such a serious matter... and we impeached a president for lying about
getting a blow job? Had anyone asked Kennedy, Eisenhower or Roosevelt, they
would no doubt have lied too or simply scoffed it off and avoided the whole
issue.
Come on! Something is seriously wrong here.
Oh oops... we're in Iraq because of all the terrorists there who caused
9/11.. but wait, they weren't Iraqis, they were Saudis... hmmmm Well I
guess Iraq is a convenient "stand-in"... we couldn't bring a war against our
allies could we...
Sorry for the tirade, but you did ask... :)
But hey, on the bright side, our economy will surely improve with the
mega-spending that is taking place over Katrina so its all good, right? And
since I'm 63, I won't be around to worry about the impact on our children
and grand-children of trying to once again balance the budget... so "what,
me worry"?
