Todd,
On the port issue,mine has canvas covers that snap- on over top of the
windows and deflect most of the rain.
The boom slider is not the same on every boat, Stan up-grades whenever he
gets a better idea,and he gets allot of  better ideas.A picture and the year
of your boat might net you better info.
On the chain plates,I humblely set back and listen to somebody who has been
there
