Michael,

Thanks for the feedback.  The main issues were bulk, ease of handling, and cost.  The opening in the front is for forward visibility and ventilation.  The ripstop 'look' is meant to complement the look of the sides.  The pop top shape starts to look huge if carried much further forward.  I very much want to avoid punching thru the $1K boundary.  I appreciate your candor.
