OK, I'll bite. The Admiral just approved "Zephyrus" for our '86 R22.
Zephyrus is the ancient Greek God of the gentle western wind.
My last boat (a South Coast 22) came to me as "Trust Me". Given that it was
my first boat, I determined that name was inappropriate for my skill level
(I was right, too). I renamed the boat "Z Breeze". A take on my last name
"Zumach". Unfortunately, I did not follow the boat renaming procedures that
you find in books and on the net. When the boat sank at port on Father's
Day 2005, the Admiral took it to mean the boat was doomed (hey, I got an
awesome R22, who am I to question her superstitions). I would have been
happy to name the R22 Z Breeze ll, but that did not make it past the chain
of command.
One of our esteemed collegues on this list suggested Oui Si Ya (Yes, Yes,
Yes in three different languages). It was in the running for a while.
