That still doesn't make sense. The amount of wind in the sails is relative
to the angle of heel. If you are at 30 degrees, without or without rail
meat, then you will have the same amount of sail area.  Also, weight on the
rail doesn't change the total weight of the boat, it just redistributes it.
What is probably the difference is the wind speed.  With rail meat, you can
be heeled at 30 degrees in, let's say, a 15 kt wind.  Solo you would be in a
10 knot wind a 30 degrees.  It is the wind speed that is making you go
faster, not the fact that there is rail meat.
