[Rhodes22-list] Pop-Top Height

I only had one minor disappointment in my boat, and that was that the pop-top
arms only raised the pop-top to 6’ instead of 6’4. I liked the idea of
being able to raise it to both levels, because the lower level fits better
when using the bimini. After considering a variety of possible
modifications, Stan suggested drilling another pair of holes in the arms.
Simple and ingenious—made me upset that I didn’t think of it.
Over the holidays I went to my boat to measure the arms for the new holes.
When I lifted the arms to the desired height, the bottom of the top section
of the arms went past the spring-loaded pins. When I rested the bottom on
the pins, the pop-top was at the exact desired height! It was one of my
better Christmas presents!
I have a 1986 boat. The mast is used but I don’t know if it’s the original.
The mast has three sets of holes. I assume the top set is for the boom when
the pop-top is up; the next set is for the pop-top at 6’4; and bottom set is
for the pop-top at 6’. Of course the boom can use any three sets if the
pop-top is down. Is this set-up normal or do you think the previous owner
make this mod? Is it just dumb luck that these shorter arms work in this
fashion, or were all 1986 boats set-up this way?
