Dave, along the lines Bob mentions for SW Florida, I've spent some nice time
over the years in the "10,000 Islands" Marco Island area south of Naples.
Lots of interesting bays and nooks, some great fishing, a mix of places to
live. You're really in the Everglades down there. If you want to be near a
nice small city, Naples has a lot to offer (everything but affordable
homes).
