Michael: Believe the best way to get a feel of the city is to get out into
it. Hopefully the weather will be somewhat favorable.
These are touristy items but will give you some feel for the place:
1. Pike's Market: A few blocks (a couple of levels) of different and
unique shops, restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries. Be sure to get by the
Fish Market.
2. Trolley Tour around the city.
3. Cruise (dinner or otherwise) between Lake Washington and Union
Lake. (We did a dinner cruise and it was a real highlight: great food,
great narration giving history lesson, views were unique and
beautiful, feel for the water community (floating homes including the
Sleepless in Seattle barge, boats, more boats, and yes,
even sail boats) a trip through the locks, and did I mention views?
4. Space Needle with several museums in the local area.
If you had more time, a ferry ride or two would be in order between the
various communities/islands just across the way from Seattle.
