[Rhodes22-list] Boom Room Review

Thanks, Peter,
The definite probable list of BR purchasers now includes you, me, Dave
and Bruce--in no particular order. Art is going to try to make a
prototype for Stan in time to include it on Dave's boat when Dave comes
to pick it up on March 20. If Dave brings it up to Greenwich, Bruce and
I can see it first hand, also.
From Art's description, we should be able to ship the BR UPS (Brad--can
we ship it FedX? -- slightly over 6 feet long, 15-20 pounds--Stainless
steel--packaged inside something.) So getting it anyplace in the country
shouldn't be a problem.
We are trying to make all the boom room frames and tops the same. We
can't see any reason why this shouldn't work on every boat, although if
there is a reason, Stan will know what it is. What we are trying to
figure out now is how to attach the side panels to the top frame. With
all the rail, track, and handle variations, can the side panels be
designed so they are all interchangeable? A loose fitting connection
might be easier, but the precision of a zipper custom fitted to each
individual panel might be better.
Then there's the snap problem on the bottom. Maybe Slim can install all
the snaps in his travels. Book him for your town and he'll throw in
snap installation at a discounted price. Maybe it's simple enough so
that we can just pass around the tool, and all learn how to do it.
Anyhow, we'll get one going ASAP and then we'll evaluate what we've
got. Art says he can make them pretty quickly, and is prepared to do
so. Maybe the first one will be the model for every one that follows.
Maybe they will evolve. You can put yourself in the pecking order as
soon as we see what we've got.
