Premiere Airing of "Cruising Carolina" on WUNC-TV, Sunday, February 26 at
9:00 am
For better than five years I've been working with a wonderful video company
out of Raleigh, NC, known as BlueWater Media, to produce a series about
cruising the fascinating waters of coastal North Carolina. There have been
many fits and starts along the way, including a host of fund raising
problem.
Finally, however, the first segment of "Cruising Carolina" has been
finished, and will be aired on WUNC-TV this coming Sunday morning, February
26, at 9:00 am. Yes, I know that's not the ideal time to premiere a
television series, but, hey, that's WUNC's decision, not ours.
This first installment of "Cruising Carolina" concerns itself with the
waters of northeastern North Carolina, with a particular emphasis on the
communities of Elizabeth City, Hertford and Edenton. BlueWater Media has
done a simply spectacular job of putting together better than forty minutes
of stunning video which brings to light the great natural beauty, rich
history and very special cruising qualities enjoyed by these waters. It is
my honor to be the on-air host for this show, and you will find yours truly
making some "stand up" appearances here and there along the way. I strongly
believe that any who have ever cruised, or are contemplating a cruise, of
North Carolina waters will want to make every effort to view this premiere
airing of "Cruising Carolina."
WUNC-TV is airing "Cruising Carolina" as part of their semi-annual fund
raising event which they call "Festival." During a break while "Cruising
Carolina" is being shown, I will appear live on WUNC-TV. Now, let me be very
clear about this. I am NOT soliciting contributions on behalf of WUNC-TV.
If you want to contribute, that's fine, but it's entirely your choice, with
no prejudice on my part one way or another. What I AM asking you to do, if
you enjoy "Cruising Carolina," is to call in and say how much you like the
show.
This will serve two major purposes. First, if the station receives a goodly
number of calls expressing a positive reaction to "Cruising Carolina," it
will encourage WUNC-TV to offer additional airings, hopefully at better
times. Secondly, and far more importantly, a general enthusiasm for this
first episode will greatly aid the fund raising process to continue
producing additional segments of "Cruising Carolina." Eventually, we hope to
air episodes covering ALL the waters of coastal North Carolina.
WUNC-TV is a statewide PBS television network. In piedmont North Carolina,
most viewers will find this station on channel 4. In other parts of the
state and on various cable television systems, it's broadcast on different
channels.
DVD copies of this first episode of "Cruising Carolina" will be available
following this Sunday's broadcast for $19.95 (plus S&H). Additionally, we
are offering a combination of the all-new, sixth edition of "Cruising Guide
to Coastal North Carolina" and the "Cruising Carolina" DVD for $39.95 (plus
S&H). That's a savings of $6.95. To place your order, go to
http://www.CruisingGuide.com, or call toll free 1-800-803-0809!
Thanks for your time and attention. Please remember to call WUNC-TV if you
enjoy "Cruising Carolina." Hope to talk with you on the air. Good luck and
good cruising!
