Ed,
Starboard can be glued. It takes a special adhesive and a special gun to
apply it with. The gun and glue will cost around $50, so any small job,
might do better with mechanical fasters, unless the finish look is critical,
and worth the money. I have yet to use the glue, so I can't say how well it
works, it is a two part formula, and requires special preparation of the
mating surfaces. I belive the Starboard Web site lists it:

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Starboard Verses UMHWHE

Here is a question for the sailing board for inquirers and source of
all boat knowledge. What is the difference between Starboard and UMHWHE?
Is Starboard a trade name for a type of HDPE. Will UHMWPE and HDPE do
equally well for structural support on a boat?
Where can one get a piece of either UMHWHE or Starboard 4"x12"x2"?
I know starboard can be had in 1" thickness, but I only need 4"x12".
According to West Marine, starboard can be glued together. According to

MJM,
UHMWPE cannot be epoxied; it simply doesn't stick to the stuff. It can be
drilled and screwed and I would try something like liquid nails, it might
stick to it.
Rummy), I cannot glue UHMWPE. However, according to one manufacturer's web
site it can be welded? How do you weld UHMWPE?

How is this for the question of the day?
