You may be right, I imagine LED lighting has come a long ways in the last  
few years.  The cost/performance may be much better.  It's worth a  look.  The 
discussions of a few years ago may not apply.
 
Re the Lopo light, I can't imagine that the 20% improvement in the carbon  
model vice the aluminum model had anything to do with the Al housing.   Better 
LEDs? Better optics? 
 
It would be good to identify an affordable alternative to incadescent  
lighting.
