Herb, my 2006 Rhodes came with the Yamaha 4 stroke. I'm not sure if it is
the long shaft. It does a great job of moving the boat and people are
downright amazed at its quietness.
Also...would anyone recall the size nicro solar vent that fits the foredeck
opening....is it 3 or 4 inches? Thanks
Dan NH

Ironically, I just saw a recommendation for the Yamaha high thrust for a new
(to him) O'Day 25 owner. Probably worth checking out.

Bob,
Congrats on your new toy!
I think most on this list have 'Long" shaft. These are usually 20 inch. The
25 inch are the Extra long. I have a Merc Long shaft but it is a 2 stroke.
It is a nice little motor. Throttle and gear control all on the tiller.
You may want to consider the Yamaha High Thrust. It is 9 hp 4 stroke that is
geared for displacement hull. It also has Extra Long shaft and the correct
prop for our sailboats.
I haven't shopped 4 strokes so I don't know how they all compare in price
and weight. Something to consider with the Extra Long shaft.....with your
motor mount can the motor raise and tilt high enough to get the prop out of
the water?
Fair Winds,
Wally
