Bob,

The areas north of St Petersburg on this coast are
also popular areas for retirement and for boating.
Heading up the coast a bit sees a big drop in expense.
Though the beaches are not as pleasant or as common,
boating abounds. You probably will want to at least
look at that area up north of and around the Tarpon
Springs, Crystal River and Weekeewachi areas. In fact,
you might find it to be a better area for investing in
property as there are still good deals to be found and
lower taxes. Sarasota is very nice of course, but
extremely high end and seasonal.
