eBay bidders,
Mr. Rummy pointed out that the boat has no galley, the question needs
to be asked why.
Then read slowly the description of the foredeck and the seller's
reply to question #2:
"Q: Hello. The galley has been removed? What was it replaced with? Do you
have interior pics? Thank you. Apr-29-06 "
"A: No galley. Open storage space. Pictures posted. I opened the cabin up
Friday to take pictures of the interior. In taking the pictures I noticed
that ... the pegboard on the left side of the boat had become wet and moldy.
All indications are that some water is finding it way down through the
deck... You can see the area on the pictures. In researching the problem ...
it is now evident that the softness of the deck in the bow has expanded...
The majority of the deck in front of the forward hatch is soft indicating
that the damage is more wide spread than nine months ago... Anyone
purchasing the boat will need to address that with either a fiberglass
repair or by reinforcing the deck by building a floor underneath it with
plywood with 2x4 bracings. Given that that area was rarely used that could
be a intermediate term solution also..."
A look at the pictures submitted show a side view. That is the only view
where you can see the foredeck. Someone put a hatch in the foredeck. It
has been suggested by a competent commentator that what is left between the
deck and v-berth roof is rotted away. Thus this boat has no safe foredeck.
This is a major repair requiring the skills of a Lou Rosenberg or Todd
Tavares. This is not a neophyte repair job.
The alternative would be to cut out the foredeck completely, put in a bench
set and have foreword seats. The seller suggests 2 x 4 cross beams,
however, that does not support the interspaces which is the problem.
The answer to why no galley? Maybe it completely rotted away?
