Look at the politics of this situation. The hawk turns dove. The dove turns
hawk. The issue is political, because the brother in law believes in
socialism. The brother in law simply believes that what Todd worked for and
possesses does not really belong to Todd, but belongs to all. He believes
he has use of Todd's tools, garage and yard. He has no obligation to make
good since it is for his use.

If Todd is not also a socialist then he is obligated to draw a line and tell
his socialist brother in law where that line is and henceforth not to cross
the line. Kick ass only after the line has been drawn and he crosses the
line. Todd is not obligated to be a socialist here in America. He is free
to draw the line, and since if the problem has gotten to him, he needs to
draw the line. He can do it diplomatically as possible, but he has the
obligation teach his socialist brother in law where the line is once he
draws it.

Obligation: “Remember always that you not only have the right to be an
individual, you have an obligation to be one.” Eleanor Roosevelt
