This is a typical misreading of what happened. The conservative base of the
party stayed home. The Republicans have been running the government as
liberal-lite for several years now and the amnesty for illegals, big
government and more spending, waffling on conservative issues cost them.
They forgot who sent them to DC in the first place and they paid the price.
When W signs the amnesty for illegals and the minimum wage bill and other
Democrat agenda bills he will put the R's in a bad position for 2008 unless
they field a very good candidate. If the Republicans don't do what the
Democrats did when the majorities were that slim before, that is, deny there
is any kind of mandate for the liberal agenda, they will lose more seats in
2008 too.
The Republicans were sent to the wood shed.

Hank,
If you think GB and the Republicans can stop the dem's, they didn't listen
very well to the voters. If they screw up the next two years, the next set
of
elections will make this years look like a garden party.
Rummy
