Some installation commanders make those payday loan places off limits.  Some
states are outlawing them.  They have been around as long as soldiers.  I'll
bet the Romans had payday loans (of salt).  I remember around Camp Lejeune
the used car dealers had Payday Specials; inevitably it was a car that cost
exactly as much as a private's monthly income and what a gem it was.

Those and Pawn Shops all surround military bases.  I've seen them many a
time and advised by soldiers to stay as far away as possible!
