Rummy: Many thanks for posting this sad news. Kathy and I had the pleasure
of hosting Pam and Alex for a visit a few years ago when they were looking
for a larger cruising sailing vessel.
Pam and he were delightful guest in our home for an afternoon visit.
Flags at half-staff.

Subject: [Rhodes22-list] Alex Bell Obituary
NEW BERN, NC
Robert “Alex” Bell, 62, of Fairfield Harbour died suddenly Monday, November
20, 2006.
He was proud of his Naval service as a radioman serving aboard the aircraft
carrier USS Saratoga. His career included many years at Sweda
International
as service manager. He then went on to his own business building and
installing computer networks. Alex enjoyed 25 years as a model railroading
enthusiast. His love of sailing brought him to New Bern. Using his
brilliant
creativity and craftsmanship, Alex gained great joy building his award
winning
Mariner Canvas business.
Due to his love of children, military personnel, and animals, he was very
generous with many related charitable organizations.
Alex is greatly missed, and remembered, by his wife, Pamela Vana; the
family
of Cheryl and Len Redelsperger; cousins Kathy and Mike Mattingly, and their
family; Aunt Audrey Rush Harris; and many dear friends.
A celebration of his life will be 4:00 PM, Friday, December 1, 2006 at
Cotten Funeral Home Chapel with military honors. In lieu of flowers, you
are
invited to share photos and stories of fond memories with Alex. The family
will
receive friends following the service.
The family is being assisted by Cotten Funeral Home & Crematory, 2201 Neuse
Boulevard, New Bern, NC.
