[Rhodes22-list] Your Eleven Names

Philip,

These traditions are interesting to me.  My dad grew up in rural North
Dakota.  There, the locals would give you a funny nickname based on your
middle name.  My grandparents didn't want that so they gave my dad and his
brother middle names that wouldn't lend themselves to nicknames--Garfield
and Crayton.  And my uncle's first name is Ross--my middle name.  That's a
pretty common practice.  But I feel sorry for sons who are named after their
dads.  They have to go through life being called Junior or Little (John).

P.S.  I, on the other hand like nicknames.  My country band is Slim Chance
and the Gamblers.  My blues name is Cross-Eyed Slim.   8-)
