[Rhodes22-list] Whisker pole, was: Rhodes Sailing Videos

Bud,
The quick answer if you're running a 150-175% gennie has been the
Forespar HD 6-12L, expanded to 8' or 9'. I had a fixed ring mount and
went to a ring on a 24" adjustable track, approximately 18" off the
deck to keep the foot at it's normal height above the deck or pole
horizontal. A topping lift is needed, and the pole sets between the
fore lower stay and the upper stay. Several owners store theirs
against the mast, but an already heavy mast with stored main, and
less frequent use of the full centerboard dictates v-berth storage to
me.

Also, for a lot of single-handed sailing, I've opted for the UPS
cruising spinnaker as my downwind choice for ease of setting (whisker
pole is near impossible to set single-handed). Typically, I'll run
gennie and UPS wing on wing solo.

Hope this helps.
Jay
