Not normally a responder, just a reader so hopefully doing this the right way.

My wife and I live in Raleigh and are new to sailing. We bought a used R22 last year and love the boat. Easy to launch and recover. Easy and stable to sail. IMF is the best. Watching the other boats crawl all over their boats to mess with their sails while we just pull on a line is entertaining. I am sure we are not sufficiently trained/experienced to fully appreciate all of its sailing capbabilites but we enjoy the whole experience. Have not slept in the boat yet but don't see why it would not work out for a weekend.

Regarding towing. We have a Acura MDX which has a 3500 pd capacity (v6) We towed the boat from Conn to Raleigh without any problems. Would not want to go that far on a regular basis but it does the job.

We took our lessons on a Catalina 22 and the R22 is so much more comfortable to sail.
