Erly,
Who is feeding you questions? In any 22' sailboat you will trim the sails according to the wind conditions, my O'Day 222 couldn't hold a steady tack in gusty winds, the R22 does very well from the sailing I have done. I think I'd be thinking hard about staying out in winds over 20 knots in any brand boat under 26'.
The R22 is one tough boat.
