Bill,

Thanks for the post.  I'll bet your son will remember his Bahamas adventure
with Dad the rest of his life.  When one speculates about everything that
could go wrong out there in the ocean alone, well, I guess that's what makes
it an adventure.

Some of my friends have larger boats they keep in Oriental they have never
taken more than 50 miles from the dock.  In the marinas most boats seem to
remain slipped 99.9% of the time.  Your trips (and Chris G's too!) scratch
an itch many of us have.  To be carefree, self reliant, completely in the
present, and exploring.

It 's also worth noting (for lurkers and wannabes) that R22 is a great boat
for this purpose.  What a range!  Knoxville to the Bahamas in less than 3
days.

I'll pass on your stories to my sailing friends.  Maybe a few more will
venture out because of your successes.

We are eagerly anticipating your next post about the crossing.  Thanks
