[Rhodes22-list] Fleet Events for Rhoadies!

Yeah Art,

Amen brother! But you're preaching to the choir.

Except for LIS and the Chesapeake, Rhodies seem to be scattered like the
Jedi all across the country. But I like your great idea. Maybe if a 2007
calendar/venues proposal was established for 3-5 day cruising events all
over, then those who choose could attend one near them.

Edenton would be a good spot. A trip to Elizabeth City and back could take
2-3 days. Longer time would allow going south to Manteo. There's lots of
thin water there that would be no problem for R22s. By leaving a car at the
destination, a longer one-way trip would be possible. Might even make it to
Washington, NC or ONC one-way in 5d. Ocracoke Island (Pamlico Sound), Core
Sound, Cape Lookout, the ONC on the Neuse River should also be considered.

As previously mentioned, the Catalina 22 class does a very good job
promoting group cruising and racing activity. We're not quite as big or
organized, but our boats are better and it might be fun to start moving in
that direction.

Sorry I won't be at Annapolis. I hope you all kick this idea around and set
some dates. Please let me know how I can help.

PT

Club (CFYC) in Orlando, among many other "clubs" (Texas, Great Lakes, NE
Trailer Sailors) organizes regular caravan trips/outings during the sailing
season. While we may be more apt to let our boats lounge at a dock or
mooring, why don't we pull together a few trips ourselves. The NC Coast,
Melbourne, P City, Chesapeake Bay. There have to be a few of us that are
willing to trailer to some exotic site, launch together/sail together and
really utilize the benefits we enjoy in our spectacular boats. Edenton
environs might be a starter so we can include Stan. CFYC has made the
'work' of setup easier because they help each other rig for sailing, cook,
wash up, and enjoy swapping stories, pictures, and ideas. We could call it
Expo7, and should be alot of fun. If scheduled on an off week and weekend,
maybe spanning two weekends, we have a larger turnout.

on autopilots, IMF, Sails, VHF options, etc. I would be glad to set up the
BR for anyone who is curious. Stan or staff might be willing to give us
tips on refinishing and removing oxidation from the hull, or other points of
interest. We could use one time segment of the get together to include
wannabes. We could have sailing events and nonsense events, such as a
sculling championship event. Who has ideas?

meeting other R22 skippers, big time. Lets literally get it together.
Thoughts??
