Mark,
A little tidbit about Captain Hazlewood....My father met Joseph Hazlewood at
his college class reunion many years ago. They both graduated from The NY
Merchant Marine Academy located at Fort Schuyler in the Bronx. Dad was many
years senior and they weren't class mates. His recollection was Hazelwood
was always a heavy drinker at reunion parties. I think Hazelwood has had
several DUIs since the spill. My father managed to survive 2 years in
Merchant Marine and 30 years (including 3 years as Captain of an oiler) in
the Navy without incident.
