[Rhodes22-list] What's up with my mast?

My regular email has been blocking me for some reason. Let me try to post
through Nabble. - rob

John,
Wow. Interesting. You definitely do not have a GB mast. But your use of
photos to show what you have is most useful.

There is a reason I save old email. Credit Todd this time for a sketch of
what GB's standard mast should look like.

the slot in Todd's sketch appears to match the slot in your third photo in
which the gooseneck (the part the boom attaches too) is inserted. In your
third photo, it appears your gooseneck is screwed to your mast? Someone
correct me if I'm wrong, but the gooseneck should be free to slide and be
above the slot. The holes in the mast (back to Todd's sketch) can be used
to hold the gooseneck where you want it. I've got an old standard main (not
IMF) and use a nail (yes, probably not the best thing to use, but that's
what PO used) through the top hole to keep the gooseneck from riding up any
higher.

If you refer to Captain's Rummy photos:

Particularly number 76, you see the pop top also attaches to a gooseneck
which goes in the slot but rides below the opening. I use a nail through
the hole that's marked 24" (Todd's sketch) to hold the pop top gooseneck up
when I put the pop top up.

It appears to me that your gooseneck broke (your slider piece in your first
photo) and someone fashioned another one but fixed mounted it below the
slot, probably because to fully raise the sail the boom had to be lower than
the slot and if it wasn't fixed it would ride up and pop out.

I'll try to take some photos of some of my hardware this evening (got all my
stuff in my basement) and post them tomorrow, but see if any of this helps.
