[Rhodes22-list] More on GPS

Our Uncle Sam gets the extra buck! When the Gulf was hit
by Katrina, Uncle Sam and his little brothers and siters in
locale govenrment made more profit than the oil companies!

I read and heard on NPR, CA state govenernment was so
worried about loosing $$ because people were starting to
switch from BIG SUV to little and Hybird vechicles, they
proposed a test to have GPS devices required so they would
adjust the taxes based upon miles driven rather than gas
purchased. This way they get they could also get money
from all those alternative fuel people. I can't wait for
the follow up reports on this one.

VA is just as nutty! Last year they wanted to remove hybird
and alternative fuel vehicles from the HOV lanes. Are the
HOV lanes that full that those nasty green people need to
be removed? I believe they still let green people in the
HOV lanes, but there was a good sized fight.

Speaking of HOV lanes ... how full are they in your area?
If the hurestic is 10,000 cars/lane/hour throughput, then
if everyone were allowed ot use the HOV lanes, perhaps we
could increase throughput on the beltway by 5,000
cars/hour? but then that would be 5,000 cars * 3 hours
getting better gas economy, and paying less taxes! Now
that isn't gonna work, is it!

Okay I have MY BLOOD pumping now.

happy Monday!
