[Rhodes22-list] Battteries

Hank,

The original location for the battery when the R22 was delivered was under
the cockpit bench seat. It is stored in a standard vented "battery box" and
is strapped to the cockpit floor (under the seat) where it is protected. I
have never had any problems with corrosion either from battery acid or sea
water/vapor. Closed spaces and hydrogen gas collection are not something to
be taken lightly.

Mike,

I'd be more worried about the wet and corrosion from them being under the
cockpit bench than I would about the gas build-up when charging. I believe
that is very minimal and there is enough air under the v berth to dissipate
the hydrogen.
